Life Tips on Aging Gracefully

For the body - movement, movement, movement - rotting occurs in stagnant water, living water is water in motion, a living body is a body in constant motion.

For your Soul - Peace and Love! ... and against wrinkles on the face - avoid resentment, anger, envy - they leave marks on our faces. Smile more often and think about good and kind. and "feed "your face just as good as you feed your stomach -

And don't forget to smile - a youthful spirit makes you beautiful

If you’re intentional about the type of woman you want to age into, you will become the best version of yourself. Here is my list of graceful aging tips. I encourage you to make your own.

  1. Move your body.
have you ever heard the phrase “rotting occurs in stagnant water”? Living water is in motion. Find a physical activity that you really enjoy and do it most days of the week. Walking, dancing, strength training, gym classes, biking, swimming. Even if you are starting from scratch, show up every day to your activity and you will inevitably feel better. If you work out and push yourself, you will still feel very young physically speaking.

  2. Maintain a youthful spirit
Just because you’re a certain age doesn’t mean you can’t act silly or find joy in mundane tasks. Joke around with your loved ones. Throw a dance party for yourself. Wear all pink if it makes you happy. Maintain your inner child and do things that make you feel inner joy.

  3. Let the past go
We have all been through a lot but it is important not to dwell on past negative experiences. If you need to heal from traumatic events, make sure you prioritize this and use resources to help you process and move forward in life. I don’t believe in talk therapy as much as I believe in journaling, meditation, constant movement, and I have found that resources on YouTube have been more helpful and useful than any paid therapy. If you want to have healthy relationships in life you HAVE to process past issues and trauma. You need to train yourself on how to identify healthy vs toxic relationships.

  4. Develop a skin and hair care routine.
A skin care routine practiced religiously morning and night will do wonders for your health. Focus more on skin care than heavy, cakey make up. You will maintain a youthful glow. A skin care routine is a relaxing and rejuvenating ritual to keep. Figure out what products are best for you.

  5. Keep a good attitude about life.
Try not to have a chip on your shoulder. Life can be tough but we are stronger than we think we are. If you don’t like your current situation, whether it’s your relationship, job, living situation, etc…LEAVE. I cannot stress this enough. Life is short. You must must must do everything you can to enjoy it. You CAN have the life you want, you just have to be strong enough to go after it! Similarly, stay grateful. Gratitude will solve a lot of your problems because you can begin to look at your life as a blessing. Chronic complainers are not fun to be around. It’s okay to vent to your friends now and then, we all need support, but make sure that’s not the majority of your relationships. You have to laugh and make the most of it.

  6. Keep a list of role models
There are women who are aging like fine wine and it’s not just because they look great- they feel great, they love themselves and their friends, they take care of themselves, mind body and spirit. Here are my favorites: Miranda Kerr, Norma Kamali, Iman, Amal Clooney (so classy), Gisele Bunchen, Pam Anderson

  7. Have a hobby that brings you joy (that is not on the computer or screen).
I believe it’s important to have passion projects. This is the type of project or activity you can zone out and work with your hands. Baking, cooking, sketching, sewing, painting, collaging, crocheting…whatever your heart desires. This is good for your brain and it helps you relax!

  8. Dress really well
Dress in clothes that make you feel confident, pretty and put together. It is important to feel your best and dressing well will always trick your brain into feeling good! Even at home, wear nice quality loungewear that’s not too tight to your body. You should feel elegant and pretty no matter what. I stand by the adage “when you feel good, you look good” !

  9. Maintain your curiosity and zest for life
Be interested in other people, cultures and places. This will expand your brain. You can get along with anyone from anywhere if you have a positive and welcoming spirit. This is an unspoken language among warm people. A smile will go a long way!

  10. Spend time in nature

Get outside and appreciate natures gifts. A barefoot walk in a garden or on the beach will do wonders for your soul. You will feel rejuvenated and alive.
